In the early 1900s, Italy was humming with the sounds of pipe manufacture. Factories full of workers were grinding night and day to keep up with the demand for smoking pipes all over the world. From time to time factories would develop a prototype run to test the demand for a particular shape or feature.
In 1930 the Rossi Brothers of Barasso, Italy decided to make a short run of 50 pipes with briar stems. For some unknown reason these pipes were never released. This lot was recently discovered in the basement of the old Rossi factory. My contacts in Italy have helped me to resurrect these very historic pipes and bring them to you.
Only 50 of these pipes are known to exist. They have been specially authenticated and certified by Antonio Paronelli of the International Academy of Pipes in Italy (Think Smithsonian level of authority on the subject of pipes). These gorgeous specimens are stamped "ROSSI" and "Made in Italy". Intensive research was done to create period correct packaging as well. Each pipe comes with a certificate of authenticity.
There are only 50 and there will never be any more. This is a unique opportunity to add one of the rarest factory pipes in the world to your collection.
These are New Old Stock and are unsmoked. They have been lightly polished and are sold in original condition. These pipes do contain some fills on the exterior of the bowl and on the stem. At the time when these were made, a pipe was made to smoke and perfect finishes were not of paramount concern. With that said, their engineering is some of the best I have seen. They all have nice straight airways.
