Bones
Bones Pipes are pipes - Thats it - No fancy stuff...
If you want a pipe to start with or just build your collection, Bones are the pipes for you. Toss it in a tackle box or a backpack and go. These pipes are, simply put, the absolute least expensive honest briar pipe on the market.
I was going for ultimate transparency with this product as I do with the rest of the Morgan Pipes lines. This one is special though.
Most “cheap” pipes out there rely on fills, black chamber coats, and heavy shellac finishes (or worse) to hide flaws and give the appearance of a pretty pipe. I wanted Bones to be what YOU want it to be.
A simple smoking machine.

I was thinking one day about all the wood waste that pipe factories end up burning. For example, Company A asks Factory X to make 10,000 smooth brown billiards. Generally in a run of pipes you'll find a large percentage of stummels that just wont make it through a rigorous quality control process. While these discarded pipes may make very nice sandblasted pipes, they wont yield smooth finishes which is what the customer ordered. So Morgan Pipes, Company B, comes in and says “sandblast, stem, wax, and laser engrave all the stummels and send the ones that hold up structurally to me”.

I personally inspect every one of the pipes and discard those that do not meet my standards for the Bones line. My standards are... Does the pipe have any large flaws inside the chamber? Does the pipe look like it will burn out prematurely? Are the airways incorrectly drilled to the point that the pipe wont smoke well? If I find that any of these features are present, the pipe goes into a box and is never seen again.

Those pipe that do make the cut and put into inventory and shipped via “grab bag” style to customers all over the world looking for a solid quality inexpensive pipe that they dont have to baby. A cool byproduct of this efficient product is the finish. |
Because Bones pipes are sandblasted and only finished with a thin coat of carnauba wax, the pipe will age and color as you smoke it . I have seen some extremely dark finishes lately. Pipe smokers love the process of seeing their pipes color over time. It adds a personality to the pipes. |
